I was very impressed with room I booked a single got an apartment with double bed full kitchen living area and shower room. Very tastefully done to high standard.
The temperature of the room was very cold the heating went off about 11pm and came back on at 7am it was only 10'C I was frozen. Suggest they don't put the heating on timer it will put many people of from returning

The cottage was well-equipped, though the beds were uncomfortable.

We never actually got to meet the 'staff' but the son in law staying for Christmas was really welcoming and very nice. it was the comfort of the accommodation and the fact that it was well kitted out that we enjoyed the most. We certainly intend to use this accommodation again.

Friendly pub and lovely little cottage to stay in. Accommodation was in a private courtyard at the side of the pub and was immaculate. Would definately stay again when visiting York or the Coast.

Excellent cottage. Very nicely decorated with all the facilities you need. Owners were fantastic. Very friendly and helpful in dropping us off and picking us up from the wedding we went to at Castle Howard. Exceeded all expectations! Would recommend to anyone and I certainly hope to stay there again!

The cottage was nice, very comfortable and well-equipped, the location was ok. Good value for money.
We were unlucky, because we arrived on the day the owner had gone on holidays and his substitute was still organizing for the activity. So we had to wait for an hour before he arrived to open the cottage, the heater was off and other minor disturbances. I imagine that during normal operations this does not happen so I would not discourage people to go there. Perhaps an email or a ring would have been sufficient to avoid these problems "On arrival call this person or let him know in advance your arrival time..."

Location offers a lovely village setting with quick access to both Monk's Corner Park and Ride and nearby attractions like Castle Howard. The cottages come fully equipped, with a separate living area and a kitchen stocked with all the essentials for self-catering.
Rooms are positioned above a bar, leading to noise from patrons until closing time at 11 PM, which might be a consideration for early risers. Limited breakfast choices seemed heavy on meat, while parking could be tight for larger vehicles. A lack of Wi-Fi and poor signal could frustrate those needing to stay connected, and some dust accumulation in the cottages might bother guests sensitive to allergens.

This is a great little place to stay and the cottages really are home from homes..we where well impressed with our cottage and would stay again when you consider the price of York hotels this is a bargain.. Handy for both York and Scarborough. Which is a hour away and York only ten minute drive..a great little gem.. Good for 2adults and one child on sofa bed as not the biggest of cottages but adequate, good parking and in a lovely little village.no bath just shower but other facilities are great.
